Welcome to Rowan
Real People@Rowan provides quality supported living accommodation in Napier for 19 people under 65 with a physical disability. The service is owned and operated by Presbyterian Support East Coast.
Background
The service began in 1983 as Rowan House, a converted 12-bed former nurse's home. Two purpose-built four-bedroom cottages were added in 2004. Originally the service supported people who were more mobile. Today's flatters have higher care needs and more of them are in wheelchairs.
Service philosophy
Rowan's operating philosophy is to encourage independence, choice and community participation in flatters. A strong emphasis is placed on rehabilitation, and Presbyterian Support is also committed to working in partnership with flatters so that their real needs are met.
